On Thursday, October 21, 2021, The Farnworth Art Museum will hold a virtual lecture given by Dr. Judith Stein on Red Grooms. The lecture will explore Grooms’ unique career, and the summer of 1964 when he painted and made movies in Maine.
Dr. Judith Stein is a writer and curator specializing in post-WWII American art. As curator at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1985, she organized the first major traveling retrospective of the work of Red Grooms. She is the executive vice president of the American section of the International Art Critics Association and the author of the prize-winning biography, Eye of the Sixties, Richard Bellamy and the Transformation of Modern Art (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2016).
